I can see my belly jump...this little guy knows how to do a somersault already. No gymnastics lessons needed...I'm just sitting here on the couch and watching the "tummy" show. It looks like an explosion in my stomach. He must really like eggs for breakfast :)
Today I'm officially 24 weeks pregnant :) WOOHOO! Which means I only have about 14 or 15 weeks top left! I called my OB doctor's office yesterday to make my next few appointments to get them on my calendar and she said that I'm done with all my 4 week appointments. I'm now moving on to the every 2 weeks. That was a SHOCKER to me because that just means baby is really getting much closer. I go to the doctor next Friday for a check-up and my gestational diabetes test. I'm seriously praying that I pass! I definitely do not want that!
Today also marks another countdown! 2 weeks from today we leave for our trip to Turks & Caicos! Can't wait for a little R & R before baby arrives!
I just have to write this down so we never forget it! Back in September, we went to Disney World with G & G Holgrimson. They had this deal where you put a refillable mug at our resort. So Marissa got her first drink of Sprite and we've never looked back. Now, I always thought my kids would never drink soda before age 5 but I guess I was wrong. Luckily, we've kept it as a treat at restaurant and she doesn't drink it at home. Grandpa started calling her "Spritey-Girl" and it has stuck. When ordering at restaurants and the waitress asks what she would like to drink, she says in all one breath. "I want Sprite because Grandpa calls me Spritey-Girl." Whenever she gets on the phone with someone she says, "Grandpa calls me Spritey-Girl...." I mean she is SO proud!
I know she absolutely ADORES her grandpa so that could be part of it but I think it's so funny how she just can't let it go and everyone needs to know how she is Spritey-Girl!
We are headed to the Caribbean in a couple of weeks and this will be Marissa's first trip to the ocean. We are super excited to be able to take her to the beach. She is SUPER excited as well. I've caught her three different times "packing" her clothes. I love the way her mind works because she knows exactly what to take and we haven't even discussed it. She must be my daughter. She grabbed her sandals, swimsuits, shorts, tank tops, and dresses. I mean is this genius or what? How does she know exactly what to bring?
So I broke down and got her suitcase out and we "packed" her clothes. She wanted to try on EVERY SINGLE OUTFIT....so I let her and I loved watching her model her clothes. I still can't get one dress off of her. She is definitely my "girly-girl" and I love it! She is so excited to wear the dresses and she looks absolutely ADORABLE in them!
I'm amazed at how perfect she is for us and she is the perfect blend of being that "girly-girl" and being the girl who isn't afraid to get dirty and be Grandpa's fisher-girl. I love the fact that she isn't scared of the minnows and touching the fish. I mean I don't like to touch them but I'll never let her know that because I don't want her to be like me in that way.
I'm SO in love with my little girl and SO thankful for her!
Now, what will this boy be like that's growing in my tummy? I know he will be the perfect blend of our family and fit in like the last piece in our puzzle. I can't wait to find out. Who will he look like? Will he look like Marissa? I sit and ponder as he kicks and moves around so much inside of me. I'm enjoying these last few weeks of feeling good and not feeling so uncomfortable! Well, that's it for now!!!
We've had a busy week getting prepared for baby boy! We got a lot accomplished this week! Room is painted, crib is put up,bedding is bought and in crib, big shopping sprees for boy clothes! Tonight we got down out of storage all the tubs of clothes and we found some gender neutral clothes he can wear. Tears rolled looking at all of Marissa's clothes and realizing how much she has grown up. It seems like I have been crying a lot this week. The pregnancy hormones must be at a high because I feel like I'm crying at every little thing! Marissa is only 3 but I feel so emotional about how grown up she is and how quick she grew up! Things are shaping up around here and I'm feeling good about all we got accomplished. Now I can sit back and relax a little more knowing that everything is ready!
I turned 23 weeks yesterday and I'm still feeling pretty good. I'm extremely tired but maybe that's because we've had some incredibly busy weeks!
We finally found out on Monday that we are having a boy! The shopping hasn't stopped since we found out! I'm about to head out the door to buy paint for his room. I'm SO excited to get things ready for this new little one! I'm glad we can get these things done now so I can relax the last few months of my pregnancy! We still have to figure out a name for this little guy which is proving to be hard! Good thing we still have time to comb through the baby name books for ideas! I'll post some pics of the new room when it's all done!!
We've had lots going on at our house! We decided to re-do the flooring in our family room & basement. We had the tile that was in half of our family room removed and carpet laid down throughout the two rooms. It has made a world of difference and we can already tell it's much warmer! We still have some projects to do to finish but we are getting there.
Marissa has moved to her new big girl room. She was super excited about it and has no problems sleeping down there. I think it's been harder on me than her! I'm slowly getting used to having her in a different place. Now we get to move on to making her room back into a nursery.
We have an ultrasound on Monday so I hope we can have a peek at what gender this baby is! There is much to be done to get ready for a baby again. I'm excited to put up the crib again and get a fresh coat of paint in the room. If it's a girl, I need to get out all of the baby clothes and if it's a boy I need to do some major shopping!!
We are going on a little babymoon and taking a trip to Turks & Caicos next month. We just decided this week that we would go for it and take a getaway before the baby comes. We leave on April 8th and Marissa is super excited to go to the beach! We are staying at Beaches Turks & Caicos resort and they have partnered with Sesame Street so Marissa is convinced that Elmo lives at the beach and is super excited to meet him.
I finally sold my hutch so now I'm in the market for a buffet that will fit better in our dining room. It's amazing how much crystal I have. I hope it all fits in a smaller buffet! Oh, the little things that give me joy!
It seems like these weeks just fly by and I'm at 22 weeks today! 4 more months to go! The baby has been so active but the worst part is I feel like it's the most active when I'm laying down at night. I hope this doesn't mean it has it's days and nights mixed up already!!! My wedding ring is already getting too small and my fingers are swelling! YIKES! I had to soak my finger in cold water to get it on yesterday!
Well, I think that about wraps it up from our house! I'll update everyone after Monday's ultrasound!!!
I went in this morning for my 21 week check-up! The doctor was pleased with my blood pressure and how everything is going! I get to go back for another ultrasound on March 15th so let's hope the baby cooperates this time and is in a different position.
Next appointment is glucose test time which means the 3rd trimester is right around the corner! The doc told me that next appointment we can schedule the C-Section so I'll know the baby's birth date! I'm shooting for Friday, July 9th...so we'll see if he's available that day. How exciting! Then I really will be counting down the days!
Today, I woke up feeling pregnant....I mean really pregnant....like oh yeah, this baby is growing. I already feel uncomfortable in bed and when moving around I all of a sudden feel very pregnant. NOT GOOD since I have so much time left. On the ultrasound on Monday, she said the baby weighs 1 pound which is fantastic but if this baby follows suit of Marissa's 9 pound birth weight I have so many uncomfortable days to look forward to! I'm not complaining but I'm just finding it funny that all of a sudden it hits me like a truck!
Whenever Marissa has asked when the baby was going to come, I told her when the snow all melts and it is summertime out. Yesterday & today she looked outside and said, "THE SNOW IS MELTING....THE BABY IS COMING....THE BABY IS COMING!!! She keeps yelling repeatedly that the baby is coming....I keep telling her it's going to be awhile yet she keeps looking at me like she doesn't believe me!
Yesterday, we had our 20 week ultrasound. The technician did a lot of measurements on all the baby's organ's, bones, umbilical cord, brain....it's quite amazing. The baby did suck it's thumb and was moving around. It was sitting in the breech position (which means legs down) and literally sitting down on it's legs so there was no way of seeing boy or girl. We need to go back to have some things checked again so maybe we'll get another chance at it!
