We have been keeping our usual busy but I had to write about a few out of the ordinary things we've got to do this last week.  We helped celebrate my nephew, Degen's 8th birthday at Valleyfair!  Unfortunately, Tara was too far along in her pregnancy to join us but we had a fun day!  The weather was perfect and there were ZERO lines!  It made for a wonderful, fun, family day!

We also got to help celebrate Great Grandma Meyer's 80th birthday a few days early!  However today is her actual birthday so we want to wish you a VERY happy birthday, Grandma.  We LOVE you!  Thanks for letting the kiddos help blow out your candles on your yummy pies!

On a completely different note, Brody came home from AWANA with his Cubbies vest and he had his school pictures taken so here's a few cute photos to end this post!

Our week!

Well, we are getting into the swing of things for our new fall schedule.  Everything is falling into place and we are enjoying our new routine.  Marissa started dance class last Monday.  She has a very big class again this year but I think she is really going to like it.  She is doing something different this year so hopefully it's fun!  The kids also attended their Awana open house on Tuesday.  It's going to be a great year at Awana.  Brody loved his teacher Dylan who just happened to be in Tony's group the last few years.  He will be taken care of very well!  Brody not only started preschool and Awana but he also is going to the preschool Sunday School class now.  He is doing great with all his big boy changes!

Last Thursday night, I had an urge to go downtown and meet up with Tony after work.  It was a beautiful night and I just didn't feel like sitting home.  So we piled in the car and headed downtown.  We took the kids on a walk through Loring Park and the Sculpture Gardens.  It was a gorgeous night and so much fun.  We had dinner in Uptown and even went for dessert to our favorite cupcake joint, YUM.  Yes, it's called YUM and it is!

Friday night, I surprised Marissa with a 4family classic SCAVENGER HUNT.  I made up clues to each of our destinations and Marissa had to decipher the clues to figure out where her next stop was.  Stop #1:  Cherry Berry for a little ice cream.  Stop #2:  Train station to pick up Daddy.  Stop #3:  Her favorite restaurant, OSAKA.  Stop #4:  Bowling

She loved it and it was a super fun night!  She did great with her clues and figured them out with ease!

Holding up her clues!

Bowling superstars!

Cherry Berry stop #1

Saturday, my mom and I headed down to Iowa for the day to attend the baby shower for my sister-in-law, Tara.  She is due with baby boy in 4 weeks!  We can't wait to meet him, cuddle him and love on him!

While I was away, Tony took the kids to St. Paul to the Children's Museum and out for lunch at Cassetta's.  After nap, he took the kids to the Cinema Grill to watch a movie and eat dinner!  Way to go Daddy!  The kids had a blast!

Brody's 1st Day of Preschool!

My little man had his first day of preschool today.  He could have cared less that I left him....he was off playing with cars and much for that "I thought he would be sad" moment!  However I am very thankful he did so well!  Big changes have happened at our house!  Both kids in school....quietness, peacefulness, loneliness!

Good job Brody!  We love you!

First Day of School!

Marissa is just getting up to start her 4th day of school when I realized I never blogged about her first day of FIRST grade!  She wasn't nervous at all and hopped on the bus with no problems!  She came home very happy and excited about her day.  Since then, she has come home very disappointed that she hasn't got any homework to do.  That's always the first thing out of her mouth when she gets off the bus!  Funny, I remember being the very same way....I loved homework.....I'm sure she will quickly grow out of this line of thinking but it's nice for now!

We went to Brody's preschool open house last night.  He seems excited too to start school!  I, on the other hand, am not so sure how he will do.  It is definitely different with him than it was with Marissa.

Here's a few pics from her first day!

Twas' the night before 1st grade.....

Well, here we are the night before I send my baby to 1st Grade.  This will be an adjustment more for me than her I'm sure.  She is way beyond excited and I know she is ready!  I'm very excited to see what great things this year will bring for her!  I'm sure her little brother will miss her and I know her mama will too!

On another note, we wished Grandpa a very Happy Birthday with an early party today!   Happy Happy Birthday Grandpa!

We've had another busy few weeks and I've let the blog slide again but today is the day to catch up!  I haven't done a great job taking pictures recently but regardless we are having a fun end to summer and not looking forward to getting back to reality tomorrow!

The kids have been able to spend lots of time with their cousins, Meghan, Abby & Sophie in the last few weeks.  John & Beth had a bounch house in their back yard which our kids got to benefit from.  We also got to go to the beach for a day of swimming, picnic and a little park playtime too!

Then the next Friday night, I packed up the kids and we went downtown to meet Tony at work.  We headed over to Lake Calhoun to go to our favorite restaurant, Tin Fish and then the kids played at the awesome park on the lake.  We then went to Lake Harriet for some ice cream, more park time and the movie in the park, "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids."  It was such a fun family night!

The next day we took the kids golfing for the first time.  I'm pretty sure was more of a hit than the actual golfing :)  Marissa did an excellent job at driving.  Just one more reason I see her really growing up and maturing right before my eyes.....

We have also been doing lots of swimming at Bunker Beach!  It's been fun this year to be able to go down the water slides with Marissa.  We've had fun even going over there for just a few hours at night after work with Daddy!  I'm going to miss being able to go to the pool!

We had open house at Marissa's school this week!  It was fun to be able to meet her teacher and see her desk/locker.  We had to go drop something off later this week and Marissa knew exactly where her classroom was with no problems!  This school is so huge that I was worried but I shouldn't because she is one smart girl!

Tony and his family got to spend the evening at our local high school football game.  A tradition every year to go with the cousins and a super fun evening!  I think this year was probably the hottest one yet!

We also were able to sneak in a mid-week movie for the kids to see the much-anticipated PLANES movie.  I loved that our theatre has new seats that are like recliner chairs!  Super comfy!  The kids loved the 3D version and Brody did really well keeping those glasses on!

Which then brings us to Labor Day weekend....the most dreaded weekend of the know the first day of school is just lingering right ahead....Friday night we spent at Bunker Beach as a 4family for the last time of the summer.  Saturday, the kids went to the park with Daddy while I ran some errands and then Marissa & I went shopping for school clothes.  Then Grammy came and picked them up and brought them to Bunker Beach and they got to have a sleepover at Grammy's house!  Such a fun night for them!

Sunday we got to do our yearly pilgrammage over to Lake Minnetonka for Sunday brunch at Lord Fletchers!  It's always so fun to see the beautiful homes and boats.  The yummy food isn't half bad either!  Today we will spend celebrating Grandpa Craig's bday and getting ready for the first day of school tomorrow!

Summer is over...BOO!

Happy Labor Day!
