We are recovering from a busy weekend celebrating my birthday! Friday night marked the beginning of Christmas Break and we attended "The Grinch" musical and ate a yummy birthday dinner at The Melting Pot. It is SO SO good and a wonderful treat! Saturday morning, Marissa and I did some Christmas cookie baking. Then we headed to St. Augustine for dinner, the best coffee at the Crucial Coffee Cafe and a trolley ride to see all the beautiful lights. On Sunday, we had a Drive In Movie night with our neighborhood to see the classic Home Alone. It was a busy weekend but so fun! Here is a few pics from the weekend!
Brody had a Christmas program at his school this morning. He was chosen to be Joseph. Boy, is he the cutest Joseph ever! I'm going to post some pictures and videos below! The director of the school came up to us after the program and said that Brody was chosen because he is the best listener! We are proud parents! Enjoy!

Here are the videos. Tip: hit the button to make it full screen on your computer so you can see Joseph nice and clear! (hint: he's the one standing in front of the manger, ha!)
We've been keeping busy trying to get all the festive activities in. We are in the midst of Christmas programs, parties and concerts! The Christmas season is truly the most fun time of year. It's been so fun decorating our new home and enjoying all the new events in our neighborhood. Last weekend after Tony got back from New York, we went to a local church who was sponsering a Live Nativity and the City of Bethlehem. We all really enjoyed it and there was lots of interactive activities and animals to pet. After that, we stopped by our neighborhood local park where they have a synchronized music with the lights. That was amazing! Our local neighborhood we have renamed the Christmas Village. Our neighbors have really given Chevy Chase's Christmas a run for his money. It's amazing! This week we've had so much going on at the kids schools but it sure makes it fun!
We had a wonderful weekend celebrating Marissa's 9th birthday. Before we moved to Florida, we talked about taking Marissa to Disney World on her birthday and we were able to make it happen! It sure is so much easier when you can drive there and it's only 2 short hours away! The lines weren't bad and we were able to get through everything we wanted. It sure was a memorable day and I'm so glad we were able to go!
We also had such a fun week with Grandpa and Grandma Holgrimson. They came to visit over Thanksgiving. We had a good time of showing them around our new city. Can't wait until our next visit!
Another busy week has flown by and I realized I didn't take many pictures last week. I guess we were too busy having fun to slow down and take a picture. Last week, Marissa had her first field trip to Marineland in St. Augustine. She got to feed, touch and train a dolphin along. It was a very unique experience and one I'm so glad she got to have. Marineland is built along the beach and she said they saw wild dolphins in the ocean. Marissa also sang for their Veterans Day Program as she is a member of the VRA Vocals. I will post the video once I get it from her teacher. I'm excited to see it. Marissa also started piano lessons 2 weeks ago. It's exciting for me to watch her learn and I hope she loves it as much as I do.
Tony went to our church's Mens Retreat last weekend so the kids and I had some fun while he was gone. We got invited out to dinner on Friday night with our next door neighbors. They own a restaurant over at the beach. It was so fabulous and delicious. What a blessing to have such wonderful neighbors. Marissa was then invited to have a sleepover with Alaya and Laney and they had such a fun night together! She came home slightly tired but we went shopping and had a fun Saturday. We then met up with our neighbors again for swimming and pizza at the community pool.
This week, Marissa started the process of getting the expander. So the orthodontist is going to be our friend for awhile! Hoping it all goes well and fixes her crossbite problem!
Well, I'm hoping I do a better job taking pictures this week and can update you with some good stories next time! Until then.....
Happy Halloween from Sunny Florida! It's been in the 90's the last few days so it certainly doesn't feel like Fall! We had such a fun weekend and it's a little hard to get on task today! Our neighborhood really goes all out for Halloween. I've never seen anything like it. Every house is decorated and lots of fun Haunted Houses. The kids played outside after trick or treating and the adults hung out. It was so fun. Some of the neighbors did a fireworks show for the kids. We started out the weekend going to a crop maze and we went through the maze in the dark. The kids loved it. We did get lost but eventually we found our way out! After all the Halloween fun on Saturday, we just had a low key Sunday afternoon at the pool. Tony and I took turns napping in the chairs and the kids swam. It was definitely the warmest November 1st we've ever experienced! I'm sure one day the weather won't seem so strange and I won't talk about it on here but it's just so beautiful and we don't take it for granted! Happy Halloween!
Oh the fun of Halloween is upon us and it's been a busy week with all the celebrating. I thought I would do a quick blog post to catch up before the weekend is upon us! Starting with last weekend, the weather has been absolutely beautiful and HOT! We took advantage and went to the beach for the afternoon. We stayed until the sun set and I'm sure the kids would have stayed longer. The water is getting cooler but the kids didn't seem to notice. The sound of the ocean and the beautiful breeze made for a nice place to take a short nap. The beach truly is our families happy place. I love watching the kids enjoy the water and they get along (for the most part). Since our new home is so close to the beach we really need to get over there more!
We also had Fall Festival at Marissa's school, God's Gang Choir Practice and Pumpkin Carving at our local community park. Marissa wanted to make a scary face pumpkin and Brody wanted to make a happy face pumpkin. One big difference from MN to FL is the pumpkins are already starting to mold...apparently the heat is already getting to them.
Marissa's hard work paid off by getting on the Honor Roll with her report card grades! So proud of my hard worker!
Yesterday, we got BOO'ed! Our neighborhood is so fun and the kids are loving it! It's still a mystery as to who BOO'ed us but they left two Halloween baskets full of fun treats and some instructions on how to BOO another neighbor. The kids are having fun trying to surprise another few friends in our neighborhood.
Brody had his Halloween Party at school and Costume Parade yesterday! They got to go trick or treating at school and make a spider treat to eat for snack! He loved it!
Last night instead of Awana they had X Fest. The kids invited our next door neighbors to join us and the kids had so much fun! They got to wear the costumes and go trick or treating and ride carnival rides. These 4 are becoming such good friends and we are thankful for them!
The kids are super excited for Halloween weekend and I have to admit I'm looking forward to it too! More pictures to come for sure! Happy Halloween!
Well we are finally getting back to normal life after being in transition for so many months. We are enjoying getting to know our new neighbors. There is so much going on in our new community and we love being involved! We enjoyed a drive in movie night of Cinderella!
The kids participated in Kids Kraft Day at the community center and they got to make Halloween masks and crafts! They loved working on art projects!
Brody got to visit a pumpkin patch during Preschool. Here is a class pictures of his class! They loved having a field trip!
Brody won a medal for Sportsmanship at Flag Football this past Saturday! He was so happy and proud!
We also attended the Farmers Market and Fall Festival at our community center. The kids loved the hayride Florida style (85 degrees, palm trees and lots of sunshine).
Marissa and I had "Girls Day" today while Brody was in school and she had the day off. We went to lunch and shopping. What more could a girl ask for?!?!
We are looking forward to another fun week ahead as Halloween is approaching quickly!
