March 96th.......

Well I never could have imagined what life would look like by the last day of March 2020.  The spread of the Coronavirus has shut down the world and it is a very scary time.  I don't do well with the unknown due to my organizer/planner personality.  We got the news that school is out until at least May 1st.  My feeling is that the kids won't be back to school until next school year.  We're on day 13 of social distancing.  We've only left the house one time to do a drive up pick up at Target.  Otherwise, we've had all our groceries delivered and Amazon deliver anything else we might need.

Last weekend, I made a list of projects and we've been tackling going through every drawer and cupboard to organize and purge.  It's satisfying to be able to get things done around the house but I still have so much to do.  It gives me life on the weekends.  I'm actually happy to have work as a distraction.  Speaking of work, I applied & interviewed for a new role at my current company and I found out that I was chosen for it.  I officially start on May 15th and I'll be transitioning my current workload in the next month.  I'm excited for a fresh start and to continue to grow my career.

For spring break, we were supposed to go to Disney World and then on a Disney Cruise.  Well that all  got cancelled obviously, so we drove over to Destin Florida on the panhandle.  The water was a beautiful green and I always love when you can see through it.  It was amazing to see Brody try kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding.  We had 1 glorious day of beach time before everything was shut down.  We came home early and we've been in the house ever since.  Here's a few pics of our very short getaway.

Never in my life did I think my kids would be homeschooling but I guess never say never!  Yesterday started their first day of distance eduction.  Kids are resilient and they thrive on a schedule.  I'm happy that they are getting going on their school work and I hope that we can all stay positive in the next month of social distancing.

A different kind of 1st day of school picture

Trying to think positively and come up with good things that have happened since we've had to be home non-stop.

-My kids have actually played together without fighting
-I've seen the kids playing soccer in the backyard every day.  They hadn't done that at all in months.
-Clean rooms!  The kids have done a great job keeping their rooms clean.
-Saving lots of gas $$$$!  Without having to commute downtown is saving me so much money!
-I slept in until 10:00AM last Saturday.  I can't even remember when that last happened.
-I'm actually cooking meals and we aren't eating out.  Since going back to work full time, I haven't had the motivation to do a lot of cooking.  No time like the present to get back into looking through cook books and getting recipes to try.
-My VERY picky eater, Brody, hasn't complained about food as much and he's trying new things!
-Not having to get ready every single morning at 6:00AM.  It's a blessing to sleep until 7 on workdays!
-Watching my kids pick up more responsibilities around the house with more chores and helping cook meals!

We try not to dwell on all the things we are missing out on as it really does bring you down to a deep sadness.  ðŸ˜¢

Coronavirus and our week at a glance.....

For the past week it's been revolving door at the doctor's office's.  Brody has been sick for the past 9 days.  He had strep and influenza and was so sick....I felt so bad for my little buddy.  Marissa had her performance at the Festival of the Arts last Saturday.  Her band played well and she enjoyed having a sleepover with her friend Summer over the weekend.

The absolute hysteria of the coronavirus has everyone whirling.  I can't believe it has gotten this far out of control.  I am living my life with caution but I'm still living life.  I refuse to live in fear.  Spring Break is upon us and we have plans to be on vacation.  I'm unsure what will happen but I plan to have a good time regardless!

Spring Baseball Season 2020

Brody's baseball season officially began this week!  This season they are the Cubs.  Luckily, Brody got on the team with several of his buddies.  Jake, Ben, Stevie, Grady, Riley, and Brody are the core 6 that have been together for several seasons.

I'm hoping that they have a very successful baseball season and most importantly, HAVE FUN!

Tony traveled to Sweden, Finland and Netherlands this week for work.  His checked luggage was held hostage in Finland due to a workers strike.  Who knows if he will ever get it back?!?!?!

Meanwhile, back at home I had a very busy work week along with trying to manage keeping everything at home afloat.  The weeks normally fly by but this one was a very long week!

We are counting down to our next Disney Cruise in just a few short weeks.  We had to expedite Marissa's passport so fingers crossed it comes soon so I can relax.
